Project Management Simplified for Engineering Design Firm
The outcome
Workflows became smooth, transparent, and data-driven.
The owner gained instant visibility into project health, man-hour burn rates, and team utilisation.
At least 10–15 peers from the same industry visited to see the system in action, sparking a sense of FOMO.
Multiple businesses contacted Shizzy to build similar tools.
The client shifted from “where did the time go?” to “this is where time earns us profit.”
What we shipped
Custom project management web application
Project creation, updating, and archiving
Man-hour planning & forecasting system
Time tracking (manual + timer-based)
Role-based team & access management
Progress dashboards (burn rate, utilization, Gantt)
Reports & analytics (project, discipline, individual)
Excel/PDF export functionality
Notifications & weekly summaries
Automation that sparked industry-wide adoption

The challenge

The client’s team was investing the bulk of their man-hours into low-revenue projects (Project A) while high-revenue projects (Project B) were getting neglected. The owner had zero visibility into where the team’s time was going, causing profit leaks and resource misallocation.

Our approach

We designed and developed a custom project management tool centered around man-hour tracking and allocation. Instead of generic task management, our solution built a profit-first dashboard that showed exactly how time was being spent, stage by stage, project by project, discipline by discipline.

The Problem: An engineering design firm was bleeding man-hours on projects that barely made money, while ignoring the ones that drove revenue.

The Shizzy Fix: We didn’t just give them another “to-do list app.” We built a profit-centric project management system with:

  • Man-hour planning & forecasting per project/stage.
  • Time tracking with manual + timer-based logging.
  • Progress dashboards (burn rate, utilization, Gantt charts).
  • Reports & analytics on discipline-wise and individual efficiency.
  • Notifications, reminders, and weekly summaries.

The Outcome: The owner can now glance at a dashboard and know exactly which project deserves attention, which one is draining resources, and how the team is performing. That’s clarity. That’s Shizzy.
